Perceived temporality is a new concept that describes the scope of the time ahead within the organization you work for. This new concept can be operationalized by the Future Time Perspective within an Organization (FTPO). Different time perspectives within an organization lead to different types behavior. Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is an important concept in organizations and describes the individual behavior that is not directly linked by the formal reward system. This research aims to investigate the relationship between FTPO and OCB. In addition, the mediating impact of the broadness of a Psychological Contract (PC), on the relationship between FTPO and OCB, is investigated. Finally, this research aims to test the level of trust that an employee has in his or her supervisor as a moderator of the relationship between FTPO and the broadness of the PC. Data for this Master Thesis research was gathered by using an anonymous online questionnaire. Existing scales for FTPO, OCB, PC, and trust from literature, were adapted and used in this questionnaire. This Master Thesis was then divided into two separate studies. Study 1 showed whether FTPO has statistical value. Study 2 focused on investigating the three hypotheses regarding the relationship between FTPO and OCB, together with the influence of the broadness of the PC and trust as mediator and moderator of this relationship. The results of this Master Thesis showed that FTPO has a positive significant association with OCB and that there was a positive mediating effect of the broadness of the PC on the relationship between FTPO and OCB. In addition, this research showed there was no significant impact of trust as a moderator on the relationship between FTPO and the broadness of the PC. Besides the theoretical contribution of this thesis, it also provides managers with additional information on concepts that can improve OCB, since this research shows the importance of FTPO and the broadness of the PC regarding OCB. In conclusion, this research shows that perceived temporality has a positive significant relationship with OCB and that this novel concept is important for managers to improve OCB within their organizations.en_US
