Abstract
Mobility is a vital component of modern life, influencing our daily routines and transportation choices. In Gelderland, increasing use of the mobility network has led to greater congestion and negative environmental effects. With growing concerns over these impacts and spatial pressures, the need for a transition to more sustainable transport options is clear. However, cars remain the dominant mode of travel for most residents, largely due to commuting patterns shaped by the relationship between home and workplace locations. To mitigate environmental harm and improve traffic flow, encouraging sustainable transportation is crucial. This research explores how individual travel behavior and perceptions of sustainable mobility influence mobility flow in Gelderland. A conceptual model, built on a review of existing theories, serves as the foundation. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative survey data and qualitative interviews. Results show that travel behavior is influenced by socio-economic factors, physical environment, and subjective norms. Sustainability plays a significant role in shaping travel choices. Key factors affecting mobility flow include travel time, weather, accessibility, and costs. While cars offer certain conveniences, shifts in public attitudes and improved infrastructure could enhance the appeal of sustainable transport, ultimately improving mobility flow and reducing environmental impact in Gelderland
