This bachelor-thesis examines the importance of the subject of cross-border co-operation. Not only as a general subject, but rather specific within the Dutch-German border-region “Euregion” in the context of crisis management for river flooding. Both countries share several river basins of which some belong to the most important waterways in Europe. The regions, which are located alongside these river basins, are vulnerable in many respects. One of them is high-water in terms of river flooding. River flooding coincides with responsibilities concerning crisis management. Crisis management within one country already evokes barriers, which have to be diminished. If this issue is transferred to a cross-border region with different political systems, administrative structures, languages and even cultures, severe challenges are ahead of us. Nevertheless, it is even more meaningful to cope with these barriers, especially in a century of changing climate. A flood is an unpredictable force of nature and requires a good collaboration, especially across borders.en_US
