Abstract

I used the theory about the inherent economic advantages that people of the Calvinistic branch of Protestantism receive, as outlined by Max Weber in The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. Using this basis I used the case study of New England during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, and compared the religious and economic variables in the region, to disprove Weber's theory in the case of New England.
