The aim of this master thesis is to gain an empirical and in-depth insight in how job crafting contributes to the experienced meaningfulness of work of employees of the Department of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Service (in Dutch: AMD) of the Radboudumc, by means of looking at how these job crafting processes take place by employees at the AMD, by means of qualitative research methods. The research question of this study is defined as “How does job crafting by employees of the AMD contribute to the experienced meaningfulness of work of employees at the AMD?”. According to literature, employees can craft their jobs, through which changes can be made in the task, relational, and cognitive boundaries of their work, which in turn will shape the characteristics of the job and the social environment (relationships and interactions with others) at work, which will influence the experienced meaningfulness of work (Berg et al., 2013). In this master thesis a single case study is conducted at one department of an organisation, the Department of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Service (AMD) of the Radboudumc. Theory-oriented research is conducted in a qualitative and deductive way.en_US
