Abstract
"Drugs use is interwoven with the field of metaphysics. This aspect of metaphysics has often been overlooked by historians of philosophy. By mention of the most consequential disputes, whilst categorising, examining and discussing in general the influence of drugs on metaphysics, a new picture appears of their inextricable relation. Idealist interpretations of drug experiences lack scientific rigor, yet naturalist interpretations appear reductionist and lack explanatory value. Though no singular metaphysic can be proven conclusively, a resurgence of academic interest is tasked the monumental effort of reconciling common and alien states of mind into a cohesive future metaphysics."
