Abstract

“How can feminist theory conceptualize agency as a collective phenomenon, rather than an individual attribute, in a way that reflects the complexity of contemporary feminist resistance?” This thesis explores how feminist theory might better conceptualize agency as a collective phenomenon rather than an individual attribute. Building on the work of Sara Ahmed, Judith Butler, and Bernard Harcourt, it outlines a three-part model of collective feminist praxis: affective ignition, performative disruption, and transformative praxis. To ground the theory, the thesis examines the We Will Stop Femicide Platform in Turkey, analyzing how emotion, public protest, and institutional engagement intersect in their practice. The study combines conceptual critique with case-based analysis, bringing together different strands of feminist thought to address a gap in the literature: the lack of a coherent framework for theorizing feminist agency as a collective social actor, particularly under conditions of political repression and digital mediation.
