Abstract
The study explores the influence of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) controversies and ESG governance on the market value of banks. It aims to understand how banks' governance structures can mediate the relationship between negative media exposure related to ESG controversies and their overall Market Valuation. Through a quantitative analysis of data from financial databases covering a sample banks from EU, UK and US, the research evaluates the effects of ESG controversies and governance on market value, providing insights into the specific impacts within the banking sector. The findings contribute to the literature on ESG principles, and in specific ESG controversies and ESG governance. Eventually, highlighting the significance of strong governance practices in mediating negative effects and enhancing Market Value in the banking industry.
