dc.description.abstract | Women’s networks are popular equality strategy organisations use to improve its gender equality, but its effectiveness to actually change gendered inequalities is contested. This research explores how members of an in-company women’s network discursively construct gender (in)equality, which provides insight into how the network defines gender (in)equality and how this construction supports and/or challenges change of gendered inequalities within the organisation. The research question answered is as follows: How do members of an international in-company women’s network discursively construct gender (in)equality? The data was collected through semi-structured interviews in an international in-company women’s network of a business-to-business steel production multinational. This research uses critical discourse analysis to critically analyse the discursive construction of gender (in)equality on different levels. The analysis finds that the members of the women’s network discursively construct gender (in)equality as a business strategy. Furthermore, this research finds that this discursive construction both challenges as well as supports change of gendered inequalities in the organisation. Specifically, change of gendered inequalities on the production level is supported, but change of gendered inequalities in leadership is not. | |
