dc.description.abstract | There is a growing recognition, both in academic and policymaking circles, that inclusive peacebuilding is needed to reach sustainable peace (Castillejo, 2017). Academic evidence has shown that gender equality has a significant relationship with sustainable peace (Hudson, 2014). These two findings raised the question, whether inclusive peacebuilding leads to sustainable peace because of the fact that it has the ability to increase a nations gender equality. Through an in-depth qualitative case study of the inclusive Colombian peace agreement this relationship has been studied. The inclusiveness of the agreement and the ability of the inclusive agreement to increase gender equality have been studied. Women who work in the field of women empowerment (WWE’s) have given their perspectives. The results showed that the unprecedented degree of women inclusion led to incorporation of rural women human security needs and challenges, and when implemented correctly the WWE’s were certain that gender equality will increase. However, the WWE’s stated that there is no guarantee of the continuation of this inclusive approach in the upcoming implementation phase, and therefore fear for the lack of real change. | en_US |
