Abstract
When learning, one often unconsciously remembers the position of information. The location of this information is constantly updated across both the movements of the information and bodily movements, this causes updating noise in the process. The degree of movement of the information critically depends on the format of presentation. With the rise of technology, new digital presentation formats are being developed. The focus of this study will lie on a swipe presentation format and an Augmented Reality (AR) presentation format. In Augmented Reality (AR) the information itself does not move, while with swiping the position of all the information changes. To investigate the e ect that spatial updating has on spatial memory as well as associated conceptual memory, a version of the game Concentration was build, called MindSort. In this game words had to be learned from a rst language to an unknown second language. In the game there were two navigation condition. A swipe condition, in which the words changed location throughout the game, causing a lot of spatial updating. And an AR condition, in which the location of the words stayed the same throughout the game. The results of the study showed no signi cant di erence in the learning of the words between the navigation conditions.
