dc.description.abstract | Within this study, research was conducted into the question: "To what extent do contract forms within real estate development influence the availability, affordability and quality of homes on the local housing market in Belgian and Dutch Limburg?". More specifically, the case cities of Hasselt, Zonhoven, Maastricht and Venray were studied. In order to answer the main question, various sub-questions were formulated. For example, an answer is given to the current state of affairs on the housing market, with research into political, legal and economic factors that influence the affordability, availability and quality of homes. Research was also conducted into the current real estate development process within the cities, as well as the contract forms that are used within the case cities. The focus here is on four case projects: Parkwijk (Hasselt), Agnetenpark (Peer), Sphinxkwartier (Maastricht) and Annahaege (Venray). A qualitative method was used to answer the questions. Semi-structured interviews based on post-positivist epistemology were used. A first general conclusion focuses on the fact that contract forms do indeed influence the availability, affordability and quality of housing on the local housing market, each in their own way. This is due, among other things, to mutual trust, common goals and agendas that the actors involved adopt. | |
