Abstract
The language tests and spontaneous languages analysis methods that are currently used by Dutch researchers and practitioners are useful for the diagnosis of language problems and for formulating and adjusting treatment plans, but they are not sensitive enough to subtle morphosyntactic changes to be able to track morphosyntactic development over time. The current paper builds on the research done by Bruinsma et al. (2020) to support SLTs in incorporating evidence-based practices and aims to determine whether cumulative SLA measures are better suited for tracking morphosyntactic development in young children with DLD. Language samples for fifteen children with DLD were analysed using five cumulative spontaneous language assessment measures and compared to non-cumulative measure which is used for this purpose currently. Results indicate that cumulative SLA measures are more suitable for tracking morphosyntactic development than non-cumulative alternatives.
