dc.description.abstractAfter years of cutbacks, there is now more room for opportunities for art and culture. The municipality of Altena has chosen to make a greater commitment towards art and culture. In response, there are new specific plans for the arrival of an art and culture centre. This research will therefore focus on whether there is sufficient support among the residents of the municipality of Altena. The study looked at the opinions of various population groups regarding the establishment of an arts and culture centre. In order to be able to answer the question whether there is sufficient support in the municipality of Altena for the establishment of an arts and culture centre, a survey was conducted among the population. Personal characteristics have little influence on the outcome of the survey. Only gender appears to have a significant influence on the opinion about the arrival of an arts and culture centre. Women are much more positive about this than men. According to the respondents, the centre should focus primarily on activities in which passive participation is possible. This could include visiting music performances or an exhibition. Actively participating in courses, for example, is less popular among the respondents.en_US
