Performance management of hybrid organizations A case study at Koninklijke KPN N.V.
This paper researched the performance management of a hybrid organization. Hybrid organizations are organizations with goals related to state, market and society (Brandsen, van de Donk & Putters, 2005). The multiple goals in the hybrid organization can be conflicting which is a challenge to hybrids and performance management may help hybrids to manage these goals properly. Performance management consists of performance measurement, evaluation and management (Lynch-Cerullo & Cooney, 2011). This paper used an exploratory case study to collect data. The research showed that the management of the different goals of the hybrid organization differs on multiple characteristics: time-span, level of impact measurement and quantification for example. Also, it showed that there seem to be possibilities for integration of the different performance management targets regarding the goals related to society and market. Finally, no indication of the performance management regarding state performance was found.
