Abstract

In recent years, sustainability has received increasing attention and has become an increasingly important concept in our society. An important concept when looking at sustainability is the translation process. Despite the increasing importance of sustainability and the importance of the translation process, very little empirical research has been done on the relationship between these two concepts and especially on the translation of sustainability over time. In addition, much research has been done on the translation process in a one-way and top-down manner, but not on the translation process between translators, translations and translation processes over time. By looking at the translation of sustainability at DSG through a strategic framing lens, this research aims to look deeper into the translation of sustainability using interactions between translators and translations. To investigate this, a qualitative case study was conducted, consisting of eight interviews with employees at DSG and three formulas and document analysis. The results of this research show that the translation of sustainability changes over time, partly due to interactions between translators internal and external to the organization. This research provides additional insights about sustainability and additional insights into the literature on translation.
