The Ravenna Papyri are a collection of Roman legal transactions from the fourth to seventh century episcopal archive of Ravenna. These documents have been published, but the law in these papyri has received little attention over the years. This project will delve into the legal aspects of these sources and will use the results of that study to answer historically relevant questions on the issue of transformation and continuity. The project will also compare the legal changes in these papyri to other contracts from the Byzantine empire and the Vandal kingdom in order to interpret these legal changes.en_US
