This thesis investigates whether a computational model of symbiotic species interaction can be relevant to update frequency decisions about mobile games. And if so, to what extend. Not publishing updates for a mobile game saves the company money. They also want their players to keep playing as long as possible. To nd out how many updates a company needs to keep the player base interested, an animal based multi-agent simulation could be used. The bene t of using a multi-agent simulation, compared to other types of models, is that a multi- agents simulation does not need an in-depth understanding of customer behaviour to work. For this simulation, the symbioses between the chital deer and the langur monkey will be used. The langur monkey can invest part of its own food, to get protection from the chital deer. By investing food, the monkey can raise its chances of survival. A copy of the game is represented by a single langur monkey and the player base is represented by the herd of chital deer. An evolution algorithm is used to nd the optimal strategy. With the use of competition based on tness, the troop evolves over time and develops the best strategy. This model could be used to explore the e ects of the investment in game updates. In turn, this can be used to determine how much investment is needed to secure the loyalty of their player base. Companies could perceive the e ect of their investments in di erent situations and could use this knowledge to improve their marketing strategy.en_US
