Abstract

The term smart city becomes more and more popular in scientific literature and policies. However, due to diversity in context, institutions, resources and size of cities, one single definition for every single city is not possible. London and Amsterdam are two of these smart cities, yet they are very different. In this research, London and Amsterdam are compared with each other to look for similarities and differences in their smart city approach and strategy. Eventually a suitable definition for both cities is given.
