Abstract

The greenhouse horticultural sector in the Netherlands consumes a relative large amount of energy and contributes to the emissions of GHGs, especially to the emission of CO2. The carbon footprint of the sector has to decrease by saving energy and making use of renewable energy. Sustainable innovations are needed to meet the targets which are set by the European Union and the Dutch government. These innovations need to be implemented by the greenhouse horticultural entrepreneurs. The innovation decisions are almost never individual decisions, stakeholders influence the decision making process. When wrong information about the innovations is distributed by the stakeholders to the entrepreneurs the targets are harder to reach. It is important for the Dutch government to know how the stakeholders influence the decision making process of the entrepreneur and in the end the decision made.
