Abstract

The Rattan-industry of Noordwolde originate at the end of the Nineteenth century. It started from the Home craft of braiding baskets. The industry focused on Rattanfurniture. The glory days of the industy were in the 1950's and 1970's. The focus of my thesis lies on the companies Rohé and Gebroeders Jonkers. Rohé was de biggest company in Noordwolde. Gebroeders Jonkers had the best designs. The braided basked transformed into a real piece of home furniture.
