Abstract
This thesis deals with the different co-constructions of gender, identity and space that exist in different cultures. The film Eat Pray Love, which has been made in 2010 by the American director Ryan Murphy, is the object of this thesis. The research question that this article deals with is how the co-construction of gender, identity and space, in the European and Asian places that Elizabeth –the main character- visits, is represented in the film Eat Pray Love and how this co-construction is related to the same one at her hometown New York. Relevant scenes from the film were examined in terms of gender, identity and space and analyzed with semiotic film analysis to generate meaning out of spaces that represent the state of mind of Elizabeth at the time being.
