dc.description.abstractThis research investigates whether perceived leader attentive communication (LAC) is related to employees’ need satisfaction and explores whether this relationship is mediated by perceived inclusive leadership, with a subsequent examination of psychological safety as a potential moderator. Building on insights from existing research and theory, this research developed and tested the moderated mediation model, using a quantitative design. However, the analysis of data from 183 working respondents who indicated their experience with the concepts, did not support the moderated mediating effect, as psychological safety did not moderate the relationship in this context. Despite the lack of moderation by psychological safety, the analysis revealed a partial mediating effect of perceived inclusive leadership on the relationship between LAC and employees’ need satisfaction. Furthermore, additional analysis revealed psychological safety as a full mediator for this relationship. These results highlight the important role of inclusive leadership and psychological safety in the relationship between LAC and employees’ need satisfaction. Moreover, controlling for interaction frequency between leader and employee and employee tenure highlights the complexity of workplace relationships and their impact on employees’ need satisfaction.
