Abstract
This thesis is about the production of creative placemaking. It focuses on the roles of initiators and participants, as well as the role of art and culture in creative placemaking. This research investigates how creative placemaking is conceptualised, implemented, and expressed in terms of goal, audience approach, and physical manifestation. The findings also show that creative placemaking activities in the three cases enable the initiators and the participants to work together to address urban social problems.
It underlines the development of creative placemaking concepts toward citizen engagement in co-creating social space.
