To investigate whether or not it is possible to reliably differentiate between upcoming flexion of the thumb and flexion of the remaining four fingers the Readiness Potential or Bereitschaftspotential (BP) is recorded and analyzed. EEG is used in the experiment to record the BP of self-paced flexion movements, and two classifiers are trained, one purely on the pre-movement data and the other on longer samples containing both pre- and post-movement data. The feasibility for application of the BP in prostheses is subsequently discussed based on comparing the performances of the two classifiers in a single-trial setup.en_US
