dc.description.abstractAn increasing number of students are facing increased pressure by society during their time as student, which can contribute to mental health challenges. Recognizing this trend, current research aims to explore strategies for preventing and alleviating these issues. Central to this research is the question of how influencers’ expertise and message framing impact Dutch students’ perceptions of self-efficacy, intention to disclosure of mental health problems, and intention to support others. Initially, it was hypothesized that high influencer expertise and the use of a gain frame would positively influence self-efficacy, intention to disclosure of mental health problems, and intention to support others. However, the study results did not support these hypotheses. Interestingly, the findings did reveal that increased engagement with influencers correlated with higher intentions to disclosure of mental health problems and higher intentions to support others.
