Netflix's Influence On Screen Cultures And Hollywood Production

Abstract

This thesis analyzes how Netflix, as a successful streaming company, influences Screen Cultures and Hollywood productions by researching the culture of the cinema, television, and mobile screens and how Netflix fits into these categories. By using this literature to examine two different case studies I found the answers to my research question. I used a comparison between the movie Daredevil (2003) and its remediated Netflix original series Daredevil (2015) as my first case study. Then I contrasted this case study to a comparison between the movie Scream (1996) and its remediated advertiser-supported television series Scream: The TV Series (2015) to be able to filter out any similarities and differences between the two different mediums to see how it influences the production and Screen Cultures.
