Abstract
This paper aims to examine the role of Eastern spirituality in the Western world by diving
into the representation of the official English websites of two Modern Buddhist traditions, the
Vipassanā Meditation tradition taught in the form of S.N Goenka and the Dhammakaya
Movement. As both websites serve as sources of information and knowledge, they will be
analysed on their depiction of the East and eventual Orientalist tropes they either reinforce or
challenge.
