Abstract
The research explores the effectiveness of financial incentives and business development aid on SME company development in the Eastern Netherlands Triple Helix environment. These strategies of business support are for the Eastern Netherlands region provided to the companies by regional development agency Oost NV who combine financial incentives with business development tactics
The thesis combines the available statistic data about employment development rates, earned revenues and innovative power with in depth- interviewing tactics to gain a complete picture on business development effectiveness in Top Sector companies on the short and the long term.
The outcome of the research is that long term effectiveness is very hard to ascribe to rather small incentives that were provided in the past. However the short term effectiveness of business development aid and financial support can be shown in more qualitative ways rather than quantitative.
