Abstract

In this research there will an attempt at contributing to the perspective of a ‘’post-colonial’’ Europe. To put this in practice there will be an inquiry in a specific regional policy from the European Union. This regional policy is called territorial cohesion policy and is attributed an important role for the integration of CEE member states. As the EU is already often understood in contemporary post-colonial studies to encounter CEE with a distinct ‘’civilization’’ framework (Paasi, 2001, Kuus, 2007), it appeared as an insightful encounter. To be able to apply a post-colonial framework for this encounter, coloniality of power will be discussed and deducted towards the concepts of peripheralization and internal colonization. This conceptualization is then concretized for territorial cohesion policy in Hungary, where the Euro region DKMT gives insightful details on the everyday practices of these concepts.
