Abstract

This thesis discusses the four ways in which Mata Hari is represented in various media (research, literature, newspaper, movies and images) in the period 1880 till now (2016), which shows the characterization she received in the media in the Netherlands and how this is connected to her representation within the national and regional canonical historical overviews.
