Abstract:
The question of a serious or humorous reading of Apuleius' Metamorphoses has always been asked. However, the focus of this research has been on Book XI, whereas the religious passages of the first ten books have received little attention in this regard. I have subdivided these passages in cult passages and passages about magic. My research is finished by a chapter of context. The conclusion that follows my research is that the Metamorphoses must be read in a humorous manner.
