Abstract
In deze scriptie leest u het resultaat van het onderzoek naar de beleving van sociale veiligheid
in twee nieuwbouwwijken, Arnhem-Schuytgraaf en Nijmegen-Lent. Sociale veiligheid is de
feitelijke overlast, criminaliteit en veiligheidsbeleving. In dit onderzoek staat de
veiligheidsbeleving centraal, met name de invloed van sociale en fysieke omgeving op de
veiligheidsbeleving. Dit resulteerde in diverse ervaringen van bewoners en betrokkenen bij de
wijk. De sociale veiligheid werd door bewoners in de wijken op sommige aspecten als zeer
positief ervaren en andere aspecten minder positief. Ook medewerkers van de gemeente en
wijkmanagers geven aan dat op sommige aspecten nieuwbouwwijken nog in ontwikkeling
zijn, waardoor de beleving van sociale veiligheid onder druk staat. De aanbevelingen ten
aanzien van de fysieke en sociale leefomgeving vormen de conclusie van dit onderzoek.
This thesis describes the results of the investigation into the perceived social security in two newly-build districts, Arnhem-Schuytgraaf and Nijmegen-Lent. Public safety includes not only the real nuisance and crime but also the safety experience. In this study, the safety experience is investigated, and in particular the influence of the social and physical environment on this experience. This resulted in different experiences of residents and people that work for the municipality, police or information center in the district. The social security experience residents in the neighborhoods of sometimes as very positive and some less positive aspects. Employees of the municipality and district managers indicate that some aspects of new residential areas are still under development, which is not always beneficial for the perception of social security. This study concludes with recommendations for the physical and social space of the newly-build neighborhood.
