Abstract
This thesis deals with the theme of Japanese-American internment during World War II. The goal of this research is to determine why the treatment of this group was significantly harsher than that of Italian and German-Americans, despite all three being related to Axis Power nations. Through a documentary analysis, this thesis will prove that the exceptionally harsh threatment of Japanese-Americans was a result of racism rather than a direct consequence of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which it is commonly thought to be.
