Abstract

Challenging the putative understanding of the concept of place as belonging to the static and the inert and by investigating the medium of photography through the lens of human geography, in this project I aim at introducing the indeterminate spatiotemporal account of place. To this end, I will outline the ways in which each partaker of landscape photography, i.e. the photographer, the camera, the photograph and the spectator can be deemed as a place that has its own integral and internal indeterminate operations. By separately investigating each participant of a photographic act through the notion of place, thus, I attempt to flesh out that places possess equally abstract attributes as spaces
