Abstract
This thesis deals with the first Bulgarian woman, who studied from a nude model in the Sofia State Arts School, namely Elissaveta Konsulova-Vazova (1881-1965). Considering the significance of her contribution, it is surprising that most of the research about her is outdated and does not cover her representation in the digital world. It is therefore this thesis’ task to explore the way Elissaveta Konsulova-Vazova’s artistic ‘genius’ is being represented in the digital content of Varna City Art Gallery by focusing on the virtual tour in the museum’s website and their Facebook posts about Elissaveta. These case studies are interpreted on the basis of secondary sources and a number of theories, such as the genius, famous female artists and connected museum. The interpretation revealed that Elissaveta’s genius is fragmentarily represented across the digital platforms of Varna City Art Gallery, which has led to less efficient dissemination of knowledge regarding her legacy.
