Abstract

The purpose of this research is to broaden the understanding of the factors that stimulate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The author put particular attention to the Eastern European countries because in this region the share of newly registered EVs is the lowest in Europe. Specifically, this research look at the crucial factor that helps to stimulate the EVs adoption. Exploring the factors has been realized thru establishing a causal loop diagram based on the currently available literature. This model has been validated by the group model building session with the people involved in the problem of transition into electric vehicles. To take a broad perspective of the problem a survey and interview have been conducted. The findings of this study show that well-developed infrastructure in terms of charging stations is a key point to achieving zero-emission mobility. In the poorer region of Europe, people are more price sensitive, therefore the increase in the amount of purchase subsidy would have a stronger positive effect on stimulating adoption. In general, there are countries in Europe giving the example of good policy implementation stimulating transition into almost fully zero-emission mobility in a relatively short period.
