Abstract
The interaction between autistic employees and their neurotypical colleagues is often perceived as challenging. However, current research falls short in comprehensively understanding the dynamics of these interactions, primarily focusing on the autistic perspective and the associated challenges. This study aims to explore the experiences of both autistic employees and their neurotypical at work, examining both positive and challenging aspects of their interactions. Using non-dyadic interviews and the critical incident technique (CIT), the research captures the lived experiences from both perspectives. Findings reveal that interactions encompass both positive and challenging factors, highlighting the significance of safety, trust, and respect within the organization. These factors promote open communication and disclosure, which positively impact the interaction experience. Additionally, the importance of knowledge about ASD is underscored.
