Abstract

The current research provides a deep understanding of business incubation and its impact on female refugee entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. The challenges that refugee entrepreneurs generally face while living in a new country and desiring to follow their entrepreneurial ideas in a new economic environment were studied. This research, centered specifically on the challenges of female refugee entrepreneurs and how business incubators can impact to facilitate dealing with those challenges, namely social and personal challenges, which have not been sufficiently studied before in the Netherlands. In order to get a deep understanding of business incubation and also refugee entrepreneurship, the researcher used a qualitative method to inductively analyze the data that was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews. The interviewees were female refugee entrepreneurs supported by a business incubator company as the case study, called FORWARD-inc, and its staff. A conceptual model that presents the impact of business incubation on the challenge of female refugee entrepreneurship is provided.
