Abstract

This study investigated how gain-loss framing and weight normative messages in "What I Eat in a Day" (WIEIAD) videos affect young adults' attitudes, intentions, and perceived norms towards healthy eating. Ninety-two participants aged 18-30 were exposed to various video scenarios, but contrary to expectations, neither framing nor weight normative messages significantly influenced their responses. Instead, participants' existing dietary habits had a stronger impact on their attitudes and intentions. These findings challenge the assumed effectiveness of message framing and weight-related content in health communication on social media. The study suggests that other factors may play more crucial roles in shaping health-related perceptions and behaviors, highlighting the need for further research into digital health communication strategies.
