Abstract

Over the years, research interest in management ideas has increased, emphasizing the role of consultants in their adoption. Adoption is created between clients and consultants, which is an interaction that has gained more attention in the literature on management ideas. However, previous studies failed to move beyond suggesting for further research, and the co-evolvement of this relationship regarding management ideas required further attention. Hence, this research studied the tactics used by consultants to enhance the adoption of Agile through relationship building. The findings show that the process of consultants developing relationships with clients moves through three phases with different motives: gaining access, developing trust and sustaining Agile working. The final phase showed consultants changing the dynamic of their relationship by handing clients the autonomy to complete organizational adoption. This research provides insights in the client-consultants relationship and the role of consultants in the adoption of management ideas.
