Abstract
SBMI is increasingly seen as a promising approach to improve sustainable development. However, all though the importance of SBMI has been proven, many companies are failing at successful SBMI. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to find a solution for the many failing organizations at the implementation of SBMI. Job autonomy and self-efficacy were expected to have a positive impact on the implementation of SBMI. In addition, self-efficacy was also expected to have a moderating effect on the relationship of job autonomy and the implementation of SBMI. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate whether job autonomy and self-efficacy can positively influence the implementation of SBMI. To investigate this, surveys were conducted among employees of Dutch municipalities. The data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis in SPSS. The results of this analysis showed, that both job autonomy and self-efficacy have no significant impact on SBMI implementation. Therefore, it can be concluded that job autonomy and self-efficacy won’t resolve the failing implementation of SBMI among organizations.
