My paper focuses on the transition of cities. In the last few years it has become obvious that cities are changing. One of these changes can be seen in the fact that on the one hand there are a lot of empty buildings in the inner cities, while on the other hand new initiatives are starting on the outside of the inner cities. One of these initiatives is the Fashion District (Modekwartier) in Arnhem. In this paper I will answer the following research question: How does the Modekwartier relate to the structure of feeling of the postmodern city? I will compare the postmodern themes control, eclecticism, uneven development and commodification to the Modekwartier. In this way I will research whether the Modekwartier can be seen as a new structure of feeling, or that it still suits the structure of feeling of the postmodern city.en_US
