By studying Metamodernism in three neo-Victorian biofictions, this research illustrates that Metamodernism can be understood as a cultural logic that moves on but also with Postmodernism. Furthermore, this thesis argues that contemporary neo-Victorian biofiction can no longer be solely understood as Postmodern because of its inherent qualities of pastiche and of hyperreality. Instead, the case studies show that these qualities can be interpreted as Metamodern. Following these results, this research calls for an academic re-evaluation of rewriting. Furthermore, it adds to the discussion on Metamodernism in general, and provides an example of a possible Metamodernist method in literary studies. At the time of writing, no research has been carried out that combines the three aspects of biofiction, neo-Victorianism and Metamodernism.en_US
