dc.description.abstractThe participation of female status holders in the Dutch labour market is extremely low. These women experience labour market barriers due to their sex as well as allochthonous status. While labour market integration policies mainly focus on the local context, female status holders maintain several ties with their homeland which puts them in a transnational context. These transnational relationships are of influence on the women’s labour market integration process. This research therefore focuses on how the transnational identity is recognised in the Dutch labour market integration policies. With the new integration law in sight, several projects have been set up that focus on the empowerment of female status holders. This research conducted interviews with multiple project stakeholders and participants. To fully understand the influencers of the women’s labour market participation, an intersectional perspective is necessary that recognises all of the labour market barriers together as well as the multiple contexts in which female status holders are embedded. This means paying attention to the contexts on a local level as well as acknowledging the positioning they take in a domestic and transnational level. While the projects already better recognise the women’s transnational identity, Dutch labour market integration policies could do better.en_US
