dc.description.abstract | English for Specific Purposes is an approach to teaching the English language that consists of three factors that distinguish it from a general approach to English language teaching. These three factors include a detailed needs analysis, language analysis, and the teaching methodology and teaching material that is selected and created. Task-based language teaching (TBLT) is a teaching methodology that focuses on teaching a language through authentic and meaningful tasks. This MA thesis provides a detailed description of TBLT and ESP, as well as an account of how these two approaches were used to design a needs-responsive and meaningful course on hospitality English for support staff at Radboud University Nijmegen. It essentially describes and justifies the many pedagogical decisions that were made during the design of the curriculum and pedagogical material. | en_US |
