dc.description.abstractMany countries, among which the Netherlands and Germany, have devised plans to expand renewable energy production. Both of these countries have adopted wind energy on a large scale. As the production of wind energy is expanding, so are the sites at which wind turbines are constructed. Often found in open landscapes, turbines are also placed in forests. Reasons for this might be of geographical nature and lack of space, but also societal arguments. Although wind energy generation in forests increases the share of renewable energy, it can have negative effects on forest quality, nature and biodiversity. This thesis therefore explores the policy arrangements regarding this topic in four cases across two countries. Is aims to answer the research question: What are the similarities and differences in the evolution of the policy arrangements of the nexus in the Veluwe, Wieringermeer, Thüringen, and Baden-Württemberg, and how can these similarities and differences be explained?en_US
