dc.description.abstractThe contribution of job crafting to the experienced meaningfulness of work in a low profile job People are increasingly interested in doing work that is meaningful and actually matters to them. Doing meaningful work results in potential benefits for employees and organizations. Research shows that job crafting contributes to the increase of meaningfulness in work. The relationship between meaningful work and job crafting is under-research with regard to low profile jobs. The aim of this master thesis is to gain empirical in-depth insight how job crafting contributes to the experienced meaningfulness of housekeeping employees in homecare, by means of looking at how job crafting techniques take place by housekeeping employees in order to increase the meaningfulness of the work. A theory oriented research was conducted in qualitative and deductive manner, using a single case study. Data was collected in ten in-depth interviews with employees of homecare organizations in the Netherlands. The results of this research show that this low profile job is perceived as very meaningful and job crafting significantly contributes to the experienced meaningfulness of housekeeping work.
