This research shows how important it is for employers and managers in the healthcare sector to take employee expectations into account. Expectations can be about all kinds of subjects; development, support, compensation, job security, job variety and so on. This research shows how living up to these expectations keeps the employees committed and prevents them from leaving the organization. Organizational commitment in this research is divided in three forms; affective-, continuance and normative commitment. When employees feel like their expectations are met, they show higher levels of affective and normative commitment, and lower levels of turnover intentions. The two forms of organizational commitment even mediate the relationship between the degree in which expectations are met, and an employee’s turnover intentions. Continuance commitment seemed not to have a significant relationship with employee expectations and turnover intentions. A qualitative research method is used and a survey was send out to 170 employees. Linear regression analyses were used to find out the relationships between the variables.en_US
