Abstract
The integration of refugees is a prevailing, complex societal challenge for Brabant. To address this complexity inside the public sector, it is necessary to think in connections and heed the request for integrated action and customized work. By considering other perspectives, such as the networking role of the Province of North Brabant, directed on collaboration, and its participation in Governance Networks, this complexity can be addressed. Further, living labs are identified to assist policymakers and practitioners in tackling this complexity, as they are responsible for realising innovation in the public sector. Due to the specific characteristics of Governance Networks and living labs, it is possible to argue a cross-conceptual entity, a Governance Network based living lab. Werkplaats De Gruyter seems to be the entity, where this manifests. The main focus of this research is then to investigate, describe and test this ‘other’ perspective, Werkplaats De Gruyter, through which it is possible to address the complexity of the societal challenge of refugee integration on local levels in Brabant.
